Table Root Farm May Updates

Yesterday, my youngest son came to Table Root with us and his comment upon arriving was exactly the perspective I needed.  With excitement in his eyes, he told me that it was really starting to look like a farm and that he had not been able to picture the property as a farm before.  It made me stop and take a moment to appreciate the fact that we bought the property a year ago this May and while the past year has been a trial of patience, perseverance and flexibility, I had made incredible progress toward my vision.  The past few weeks has also been an exciting time as I have added 8 beautiful young hens to Table Root Farm and have restructured my business plan to best fit external constraints as well as my goals of creating community through connecting people to their food and to each other while striving for greater sustainability for myself, my family and my community.  This month’s newsletter will be a bit lengthy as I lay this out for you, but I hope the content is informative, interesting and inspiring.

Table Root Farm will move forward as a community supported membership farm.  So what does this mean?  It means that I will consider the needs of my members as I continue to develop the farm garden and the opportunities available to its members.  In return, members will join the farm at a low annual cost, investing in me, as a farmer, and as someone who is looking to offer the community a service and experiences of value.  I foresee the exact offerings of a membership will change as the years progress and I can more predictably determine what I can offer reliably and what the membership community would like to have available.  This relates to both edible goods as well as educational opportunities.

20223 Introductory Farm Membership:

**$25.00 for local members and $15 for virtual members**

Included in your membership

*Whatever produce comes from Table Root Farm this year – While I hope to offer a large variety, the first year of a garden, in a new location, is unpredictable.  Last week I had Wasabini greens and Miner’s lettuce microgreens!

*A monthly educational seminar – max of 10 in person at the farm, otherwise it will be recorded for those who can’t attend in person.

*Access to a members only page of my website which will include weekly recipes, recordings of educational seminars, and sign up links for volunteer days.

*Access to the farm for agricultural based workshops (offered at an additional per workshop cost), including all aspects of gardening, from planting to eating.

*Ability to purchase eggs at $6 a dozen (hopefully starting in July).

I would love to hear from you, as my community, as to what you would like to have offered from Table Root Farm, both from the garden as well as educational experiences.  Please feel free to comment below if reading this from the blog or email me directly.

I sent an email last week to those I had listed as interested in veggies & volunteering.  If you wanted to be on the distribution list and you did not receive an email, please let me know as I must have dropped the ball!  I am committing to regular weekly time at my computer (you can probably hear my feet dragging) with the hope of staying on top of all things organizational and office based.

If you would like to become a member of the farm, you can sign up here.  I appreciate everyone’s support as I look forward to building a community of people who want to optimize their own health through eating & living well while increasing the health of the community and environment through social connection and education.

Of course, if you do not want to become a member I am still thrilled to have you along for the journey.  You will continue to receive this monthly newsletter and can follow me on social media @tablerootfarm on Instagram or Table Root Farm on Facebook.  I am no longer updating @kaleesholistickitchen.  You will always have the opportunity to join in the future if you change your mind!

And with that, Table Root Farm will open to its members beginning next week!  Please reach out to me if you have any questions, comments or requests.  I will be updating the events calendar with member events shortly including May’s educational seminar date and topic.
